Thanks to Facebook, I began doing this a few years ago…posting what I’m thankful for each day on my wall during the month of November. I love it! We should be mindful of how blessed we are.

The act of expressing gratitude is life-changing. It doesn’t have to be profound…whatever you are thankful for in your life is perfectly fine! Try it and watch your mood lift!

2013 – 30 Days of Thanksgiving – Juliette

Day 1 – Today I am thankful I am alive.

Day 2 – Today I am thankful for my sister.

Day 3 – I am thankful for glasses and contacts. I’d be so lost without those!!

Day 4 – Today I am thankful for a nice warm bed, a warm husband, a warm apartment, warm socks, plenty of blankets, coats and animal beds & blankets, so my family never has to be cold. — feeling warm.

Day 5 – I am thankful for coffee. But even more than that…I’m thankful that I can afford and enjoy the little luxuries like coffee.

Day 6 – I am thankful for tee-shirts, jeans, and sneakers.

Day 7 – I am thankful for my friends…all of you. Whether we see each other often or if we only interact on Facebook, I feel your love and light and friendship and it makes me happy.

Day 8 – Today I am thankful that we have running water and HOT water. This is the third day I’ve taken an ice cold shower because our hot water heater is out (part is on the way) and I was able to be positive the first day…”this isn’t so bad” and on the second day…”ooh, this is cold…but refreshing!” Today…it was BRUTAL. So…I’m thankful that this is not everyday life. — feeling cold.

Day 9 – Today I am thankful for my husband…even though I don’t always behave as if I am.

Day 10 (a day late and my OCD is flaring up) – I am thankful I got a chance to know Stephen. And I am thankful for the new friends he brought into my life…yesterday was warm, wonderful and special and I will never forget it.

Day 11 – I am thankful for my cat rescue Purrfect Solutions Feline Rescue. Since January 2009, I have faithfully volunteered every single week…sometimes twice a week back in the day. I also act as their web guru, social media expert and kitten video engineer. I have been there on holidays, weekends, mornings…and even when I’m sick. I’ve dealt with lots of drama, shenanigans, computer issues, and cat poo. I’ve been bitten, scratched, and annoyed. Sometimes people ask me WHY? Because I LOVE IT. It’s one of those “great, permanent joys” in my life. It’s my gift that Pastor Rustin was talking about yesterday. Those cats love me, and I love them. I’m so much more comfortable with animals than people. And I’m so thankful I found that opportunity, because I have never in my life been a leader (maybe an instigator, but never a leader.) I’ve always been a helper. And helping this opportunity gives me purpose. HUZZAH! P.S. No, I cannot take your old cat. Stop it.

Day 12 – I am so thankful to have a job…MORE than one job. Seriously. THANKFUL.

Day 13 – Today I am thankful for my mother. Our life together has been pretty messy at times…but I would pick her to be my mom 1000 times over. There is no one else like her, and there never will be. Happy Birthday, Moosker!

Day 14 – I am thankful for yarn. My mom raised me on craft projects, so I’d always have something to do with my hands! Busy hands are good for the soul!

Day 15 – Today I am thankful I’m a Christian…with a big heart…and a brain. I found out yesterday that I was the victim of identity theft. Today I found out to what extent: Over 10 places and THOUSANDS of dollars. This is going to take HOURS and HOURS of phone time that I don’t have. However, as angry as I am, I am going to pray for whoever did this. They didn’t do it for groceries…they did it for stuff. And although I will forgive them, I will also help to prosecute them. Forgiveness does not equal no consequences.

Day 16 – I’m thankful for having projects I enjoy. Today I get to help set up an event with my friend! I LOVE EVENTS! Also working on a presentation for a new client who is just a pleasure to work with. I love organized marketing people…who plot and plan…and make it so much easier to be creative!

Day 17 – I am thankful for my church, my church family, and a renewed relationship with God.

Day 18 (eek, a day late again!) – I am thankful for good conversation during long car rides. Thank you, Meredith, for being my LA traffic buddy! We need to plan a road trip some day.

Day 19 – I am thankful for modern medicine. Back in the day, an infection could KILL YOU! Now, we just take a week of antibiotics and BOOM! Healthy.

Day 20 – I’m really struggling with this Thanksgiving challenge today…NOT because I don’t have a ton to be thankful for, but because I’m a selfish human and today is one of those terrible, no good, very bad weeks (yes, already) that have culminated into today. So here’s what I came up with:

Today I’m thankful that even though my life is messy, chaotic and feels out of control…I can say without question that I’m still thankful for the fullness of it. I thank God my life is not desolate, boring and empty.

Day 21 – I am thankful for HOPE.

Day 22: I am thankful today is Friday. Fridays are awesome. I love Fridays. Friday.

Day 23: I’m thankful we have people to call when $#@% hits the fan. Thank you police, firemen, EMT, and whatnot.

Day 24: Today I’m thankful for my animals. And I’m thankful I have a husband who let’s me have animals. I am thankful for my animal rescue friends! I  you guys!

Day 25: I am thankful my husband has the week off. He deserves some R&R…and I deserve some face time with my hubby!
